Club News

Former centre and club captain Robbie Morris has rejoined from Maesteg RFC to take up coaching duties. With him has come former Swansea and Maesteg hooker Dean Ronan who will coach the forwards. Training has been fast paced and lively under the stewardship of the duo.

Continuing the long line of Ronan’s to represent the club is former Maesteg and Bridgend scrum-half Lee.

Further bolstering last season’s depleted front-row resources is former Maesteg and Bridgend prop Craig Hopkins.

While these experienced players have put pen to paper for the Quins, several of last season’s Maesteg Youth squad have also signed. They will definitely benefit from the Quins recent success rate of producing players who move on to play in the higher leagues of Welsh rugby.

Some of these players have already made their Quins debuts and impressed immensely, so much so that the ardent Quins support are eagerly awaiting to see them performing again. Scrum-half Rhys Bevan is an all action livewire who appeared three times last season. Another talent is hooker Rhys Davies who is excelled at the set piece, while Morgan David is a strong running back-rower as is Adam Hiller-Rees who is predominantly with Bridgend RFC.

Elusive winger Christian Jones has excelled in training thus far and Dale Williams is still feeling the effects of a nasty knee injury. Dale Cosker has also signed for the club. More are in the pipeline.

Chairman Robert Williams stated: “This will definitely be an exciting season for the club. We open the season with a derby clash versus Maesteg Celtic and face further derby matches against Glyncorrwg, so it should make for an interesting season.

“Our seconds return to MGDRU League action, so anyone who wishes to play rugby on a purely amateur basis, I urge them to make the move sooner rather than later and to fully enjoy the South Parade experience.”
